world's end girlfriend

DENIM JACKET thrifted / NEON BRA La Senza / SHORTS (hacked off) Superstore / THE ZOLAS TEE / BOOTS Toxic Codeine / LIPGLOSS c/o Anastasia Beverly Hills

Wearing Hydrafull Gloss on my lips in the colour "Plastic". This gift was sent to me by the awesome peeps at Anastasia Beverly Hills and comes in their See and Be Seen limited-edition set (now released at Sephora). This is a long-lasting, bright lipgloss that suits the warm weather outfits I've been pulling out. Love it. The colour payoff is great and the Hydrafull Gloss is definitely moisturizing; my lips feel like it's been transformed into a teen queen's.

The applicator is different as you can see. It's a flat, flexible tip instead of the usual rounded, soft tip. It's the only thing that detracts from the gloss. I'd rather apply with a normal lipgloss tip. Other than that, I do enjoy putting this on when wearing casual.

I'm currently playing a Youtube version of The Wiki Game... by myself. I'm attempting to click from Metronomy to METRIC and right now I'm making a stop at the full-length Funeral (2004) album by Arcade Fire. On a different music-related note (pun intended), an old friend from high school recommended this musical project to me. He said if I enjoyed Kashiwa Daisuke, I'd like World's End Girlfriend by Katsuhiko Maeda, and hey he was right.

I'd like to say "hi" and "thank you!" to my new and old followers. Getting very close to my 3rd blogversary now and I wanna do something to celebrate! COME ON DOWN TO MY NEW APARTMENT & WE'LL PARTY ALL NIGHT. Kidding kidding. I think a giveaway would be nice, but maybe it's overdone? But free stuff. So give me some ideas if you have any, is what I'm trying to say... Love you guys!

Midnight has arrived and your breath forms clouds as they exit your chapped lips. You've been walking this highway for hours, careful to avoid the edge of the fast lane as the occasional car zooms by in a fury of noise.

His varsity jacket keeps you warm, and you relish in the fact that you're wearing his favourite RedRock studded shorts. The tie-dye crop was a special treat you'd bought to motivate yourself for this journey. Your white combat boots and their satisfyingly heavy footsteps make you feel powerful and potent, but they dirty upon the gravel and cement.

You're running away. Not from the bad, but to the good. He's waiting for you there.

Good luck!

COVER "This Is What Makes Us Girls" by Lana Del Rey

Of course that's not what makes all girls.

LEOPARD COAT Value Village / FLORAL DRESS Old Navy

Messed around with some effects on Photoscape. If you're still looking for a free no-gimmicks photo editor, Photoscape's pretty good. I've been using it since I started blogging on Soyconfessions. It's all I need to alter lighting, contrast, saturation. Also has some cool film effects, like "cinema", "cross process", and "afga" (my favourites).

My mother's bathroom has really good lighting. It's nerve-wracking to poop in there though 'cause there's a gigantic window facing you :P I woke up at 10 A.M. today and now I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. It's still so bright outside, regardless of the cloudy weather. Imma go biking I guess. Yay exercise!

The Hello Kitty booth is slow these days so they haven't called me in to work. It's good with me because I have to start packing (moving out on the 1st!) and still gotta cram for EOSC 114 (exam's on the 3rd ughghghgh).

I kinda gave in and had a few in my room this morning and used a candle holder to conceal the evidence.

Bad idea.

My room smells terrible.

Even my sister noticed when I walked past her earlier.

Perfume doesn't even help.

This is a sign.

Can't get this song out of my head. "This Is What Makes Us Girls" by L(izzy)ana Del Rey. Poster child of success after reinvention (and plastic surgery). I don't know why but I'm loving her music a lot more lately.

Imma do a cover soon!

Ciao bella,

P.S. This post is in no way sponsored or blah blah blah. I'm just a Romwe-loving kinda girl, and I woke up way too early so I have all this time to browse through the sales. Also retail therapy and what not. As self-esteem nears zero, clothing in closet grows exponentially. Wait did that make sense? I got a 3 in IB Math SL... and the IB program scores out of 7. WAIT BUT THE POINT OF THIS POST WAS NOT OF MATH, BUT OF SAVING MONEY which kinda involves math, doesn't it? Oh whatever.

What's great about Romwe is that there are no limits to what outfits you can piece together because Romwe is a blend of every different kind of style you'll ever find. You can go for a punk look, a vintage look, a messy rocker look, a runway on-trend look, anything that you see on T.V. or in magazines, you'll find for a less expensive price on Romwe or any other Asian street-style-focused online retailer. The only thing I'd worry about is the issue of quality. But if you don't care about big name brands and want to purchase that new "IT" item, like remember studded flats or galaxy print, but don't wanna spend too much on one thing, you can definitely check out Romwe for something similar.

"Blue Jeans" by Lana Del Rey cover

I kinda miss my hair...

My friend dropped off my wallet and cards so I feel tonnes better now. Woooooh.

I'm eating cereal in oatmeal as I type, and will go downstairs to grab some chicken soup and boiled corn. Biking later (the least terrible exercise I know, but swimming is better even though you have to be half-naked to do it) and then... I don't know. I really want to write but I don't think I can because my self-esteem hasn't been that good lately. And this affects my ability to write and think eloquently. It's like my thoughts are really choppy and blunt right now. You can probably tell in my blog posts. Sorry.

^Dirty mirror is dirty.

I'm feeling down tonight.

Even though I've gone to a close friend's 18th birthday party and thoroughly enjoyed it. Met some cool people, tried not to eat too much.

I think I'm the best when surrounded by other people.

When I'm alone and left with my own thoughts, it feels like everything's going against me.

Drank a lot with some old high school friends after work on Friday. It was fun and relaxing and completely unexpected.

One of them walked me home, it was really sweet. But I couldn't sleep when I got back. Got up at 3 A.M. and stumbled through the house to get water. Starved myself a bit because I had eaten too much earlier. Then just sat on my bed and watched episodes of How I Met Your Mother until 9 A.M. and then fell asleep. It was weird because I kept waking up and going back to sleep and it was like I couldn't turn my consciousness off, not because I didn't want to, but because I couldn't. Every time I woke up I'd check my alarm clock. Always a half hour of sleep, then waking up, another half hour of sleep and then waking up again.

What is wrong with me. Why do I create problems for myself when I don't need them at all?

Also I left my wallet and all my cards at his house, and I feel so dumb. I have never lost anything before even though I've blacked out many times and always walked to the frats and back at UBC completely drunk. Never. If this had happened elsewhere and I couldn't find my stuff, my mom would never trust me with anything again. She bases everything on my ability to not mess things up.

I'm starving. At the party I ate three fried doughnuts, a handful of dill pickle chips, a hot dog (without the bun), and 1/4 plate of salad. And drank some ginger ale. That's also my entire meal for the day. Haven't eaten anything else since last night when I got up at 3.

I have a headache.

no makeup on

A piece of the Renaissance, a little '50s, and a bit of the '70s.

Again, I couldn't find any freaking batteries for my camera!

The floral top is from Urban Behaviour, $20. The checkered dress is from Value Village (a recent purchase from when I thrifted my Halloween outfit) and $6.99. The matching sunglasses are stolen from my dad's inventory way back in 2010. Yes, he used to sell sunglasses. It's a living. The polka dot cropped blouse was a find from the Salvation Army below New Westminster skytrain station two Christmases ago; 'twas $4-6, can't remember now. Lastly, the purply tinted sunnies are from the recent Value Village thrift, priced at $2.99.

The cigarette is real but I can't smoke in my room, plus actually nobody in my family knows I started smoking except for my little sister. Also I stopped. 'Cause it was expensive and inconvenient and I just got too busy to support this bad habit.

And I grew smarter. Or so I'd like to think. But I still have a few left and I don't really want to dump them out. So life goes on.

Oh I exercised last night and I'm sore all over today... Man, I need to exercise more. Okay back to studying.

(Couldn't find any batteries for my camera, the printer/scanner has been broken for a year, so had to use my webcam. See that? It's resourcefulness.)

It's always nice to stumble upon familiar Canadian artists while watching a film instead of sleeping like a normal person would at five in the morning. Especially Stars. Unless I'm hallucinating, I think I heard "Heart" playing during the film but it wasn't included in the official soundtrack album so I didn't write it in. Or I'm just plain hallucinating.

Daydream Nation is an offbeat contemporary teen movie about a girl who moves from the city to a small town for her last year of high school. She's not exactly your girl-next-door, and even after the movie ended I could not figure Caroline Wexler out. Imagine Juno meets Effy from Skins meets every character that Kat Dennings has ever played. Seriously. Do screenwriters specifically write a part for Kat Dennings -- you know the type, the cool, independent, intelligent nymph that every alt-girl wants to befriend -- and then cast her for it?

The early onset of the subplot throws this heavy, horror-film-like atmosphere onto the cheesier parts, which is unconventional and absolutely lovely. The subplot of course being... the serial killer roaming the town, leaving cold, blue bodies of teenage girls in places that only kids stumble onto apparently. Every time. The look on the little kids' faces. Horror.

And if you're looking for sex, this movie's got it. I like that Daydream Nation showed the realistic side of sex (Thurston's first time... over in under a minute of screentime) and then completely lost itself in the moment and demonstrated exactly what Caroline opposed: the Hollywood version of sex as the "be-all, end-all" filled with the tinkly, indie music that sex scenes in movies like this usually get paired up with. It kinda almost made fun of itself. Which probably was unintentional, but whatever.

If you're looking for a loveable, stoned, damaged and haunted boy to crush on, this movie's got it too. He comes in the form of Reece Thompson.

There's also a bizarre love triangle. And if you've ever fantasized about having an affair with your teacher in high school, there's also that.

In these kinds of movies where the protagonist is so grown-up and fully realized, and so confident of who she is already... it's really hard to believe in what the director and writers are trying to convey to their teenage viewers... because she's so unrealistically powerful. Like everything she does carries such weight and consequence in the movie. But why should her actions lead the story when there's little proof of why she has all this power? What makes her so special?

But then I'm just overthinking it all.

Kat Dennings's character in Daydream Nation was mentally much older than any 17 year old girl I've met or have known. I think there is an appeal to characters that are older than they appear, especially to a young audience. We all wanna know what goes on in the life of others. We wanna see what parties are like and compare it to what we know parties are really like. We wanna dress like a main character, do our hair like her, bike around wearing skirts and heels like her, and sleep in old satellite dishes like her. We wanna fall in love and see what the difference is between love that doesn't last in the span of the movie and love that does.

I'd say this was a good film. Don't knock it 'til you watch a bit of it. The first half is relatively better than the second but both halves were interesting. The ending was a bit too neat for my tastes but I'm a cynical bitch so.

Oh my God, a crow is going crazy outside my window. What is it trying to do? Attract a mate? Is it attempting Tuvan throat singing? If so, it is somewhat succeeding.

This video explains the differences between a crow and a raven. It's very useful when the area you live in actually has birds other than crows...

Good night/good morning, kids.

in the evening I got to roam, can't sleep in the city of neon and chrome

THIS is what I do when I get tired of studying for EOSC 114. This, and watch episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Oh God I'm gonna fail this exam... Well at least I found another use for my cat ears.
